TL;DR
Radio Broadcast Engineer (Broadcast Audio/IP): Supporting and maintaining studio audio systems, radio playout platforms, Audio-over-IP infrastructure, and connected broadcast operations with an accent on fault diagnosis, live-service continuity, and software-hardware integration. Focus on troubleshooting critical broadcast issues, improving system resilience, supporting live events and outside broadcasts, and maintaining reliable services across London and connected UK and Ireland operations.

Location: Hybrid role based at The Lantern in London (Euston), UK, with increasing requirements for regular on-site presence and participation in an early/late shift and on-call rota.

What you will do

  • Diagnose and resolve studio and broadcast faults to minimise disruption to live services.
  • Support and maintain microphones, mixing consoles, routing, monitoring, processing, talkback, and other studio audio systems.
  • Maintain digital playout, automation, scheduling, logging, and Audio-over-IP broadcast platforms.
  • Support studio video systems, video-over-IP, streaming, content capture, outside broadcasts, festivals, and live events.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, testing, health checks, documentation, configuration management, and operational procedure updates.
  • Work with presenters, producers, journalists, content teams, infrastructure teams, technology teams, suppliers, and vendors across the UK and Ireland.

Requirements

  • Experience in broadcast engineering, media technology, audio engineering, or a similar technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow, broadcast workflows, troubleshooting, and fault-finding.
  • Experience with Audio-over-IP technologies including Livewire, Dante, AES67, or Axia.
  • Experience with radio playout and automation systems, plus basic networking knowledge including TCP/IP and IP-based workflows.
  • Ability to support both software and hardware environments and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work from the London hub as part of a flexible hybrid arrangement, including early/late shifts and an on-call rota.

Nice to have

  • Experience with RCS Zetta or similar playout platforms.
  • Experience with live radio, video production, video-over-IP, streaming, outside broadcasts, or live events.
  • Knowledge of FM, DAB, or IP distribution systems and broadcast systems integration.
  • Experience in large-scale media organisations.
