Venture Building Performance Manager

What you will do

• Lead delivery and performance management of the £1.5m Innovate UK Venture Builder pilot targeting IS6 technologies.
• Act as the strategic contact for delivery partners and Innovate UK Monitoring Officers.
• Own programme impact analysis, portfolio reporting, quarterly updates, and performance dashboards for senior stakeholders.
• Lead Phase 2 procurement and partner selection, including tender activities and bid evaluation criteria.
• Monitor governance, cohort progress, milestones, metrics, and delivery risks.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement data-driven improvements across business and technical processes.

Requirements

• Experience leading and performance-managing national delivery partners and complex public- and private-sector stakeholder relationships.
• Track record of delivering large-scale, complex programmes and projects to agreed time, cost, and quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of the UK research commercialisation and spin-out ecosystem, including universities, research institutes, PSREs, and regional or national pathways.
• Deep understanding of early-stage venture creation and investment readiness, including spin-out challenges, venture de-risking, pre-seed and seed funding, and investor due diligence.
• Strategic leadership combined with operational delivery, partnership building, stakeholder alignment, and problem solving.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including portfolio and performance management, dashboard reporting, stakeholder engagement, and senior-level presentations.
