O&M Technician (Solar PV/BESS)

Location: Bristol, England, United Kingdom; hybrid workplace with regular site-based work and travel to sites

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance, servicing, repairs, and corrective maintenance across Solar PV and BESS sites.
• Inspect sites, test equipment, diagnose faults, and resolve issues affecting PV arrays, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and BESS systems.
• Support commissioning, testing, energisation, and handover of newly constructed Solar PV and BESS projects.
• Follow HSE procedures, RAMS, high-voltage site practices, and company safety standards; report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
• Complete maintenance reports, service records, job documentation, and asset-condition tracking accurately.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, service providers, site teams, landowners, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in Solar PV, BESS, electrical maintenance, or a similar technical environment.
• Electrical qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent are preferred.
• Basic understanding of Solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, and monitoring systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with health and safety standards and safe systems of work, including HV authorisation or competency requirements.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to sites; comfortable working on site and independently.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in renewable energy or utility-scale infrastructure.
