Principal Frontend Engineer (React/TypeScript)

What you will do

• Architect and build high-performance frontend systems for real-time autonomous-system interfaces.
• Design scalable data ingestion, transformation, state-management, batching, throttling, caching, worker, and rendering patterns.
• Develop geospatial interfaces supporting large, continuously changing datasets, map layers, feature identity, interaction state, and lifecycle management.
• Improve resilience under intermittent or degraded connectivity through reconnection, state reconciliation, and offline-tolerant behavior.
• Profile and optimize browser rendering, memory, CPU, network, and GPU performance.
• Lead architecture discussions, design reviews, technical proposals, mentorship, and implementation of the most complex frontend systems.

Requirements

• 10+ years of frontend engineering experience, including Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical scope.
• Expert-level React and TypeScript experience with a deep understanding of rendering and frontend performance.
• Production experience building and scaling high-volume, real-time applications and map-based geospatial applications with MapLibre, Mapbox GL, Deck.gl, or equivalent technologies.
• Experience with real-time communication technologies such as WebSockets, MQTT, gRPC-web, or SSE.
• Deep browser performance, frontend architecture, software architecture, and systems-design expertise.
• Experience designing client-side architectures for high-frequency workloads and degraded or intermittent connectivity.

Nice to have

• Experience evolving internal operational tools into scalable multi-tenant products.
• Data visualization experience with D3, custom charting, or large-dataset visualization technologies.
• Experience with WebGL, Three.js, custom shaders, terrain visualization, or 3D geospatial applications.
• Background in autonomous systems, robotics, command-and-control software, defense, aerospace, or other mission- or safety-critical environments.
• Familiarity with distributed systems, telemetry platforms, or backend architectures supporting high-frequency frontend applications.
