TL;DR
Process Engineer, TRISO Fuels Facility (Nuclear Manufacturing): Designing and deploying chemical and physical process systems for a TRISO fuel manufacturing facility with an accent on process documentation, equipment integration, hazardous-process safety, and commissioning. Focus on developing PFDs, H&MBs, and P&IDs, coordinating procurement and factory acceptance testing, and solving startup and operational reliability challenges across engineering and construction teams.

Location: Initially based in Albuquerque, New Mexico; relocation to Gillette, Wyoming is required when facility construction begins. Travel between both locations and occasional travel to vendors and engineering partners are required. The role is performed in office, industrial, construction, and commissioning environments.

Company

hirify.global develops fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor technology and TRISO fuel manufacturing capabilities to support clean-energy deployment.

What you will do

  • Develop process designs and technical deliverables, including PFDs, H&MBs, P&IDs, process narratives, equipment lists, and utility consumption calculations.
  • Define equipment requirements and specifications for tanks, vessels, pumps, valves, process skids, thermal systems, chemical handling systems, and utilities.
  • Coordinate process integration across mechanical, electrical, controls, civil, architecture, procurement, vendors, construction, and operations.
  • Support equipment fabrication, factory acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness.
  • Lead process hazard evaluations and implement engineered and administrative controls for hazardous chemical and industrial processes.
  • Analyze operating data, troubleshoot process issues, conduct root-cause investigations, and drive improvements in throughput, reliability, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience in chemical processing, industrial manufacturing, nuclear, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience developing PFDs, H&MBs, P&IDs, equipment specifications, equipment lists, utility calculations, and process documentation.
  • Experience with facility integration, industrial equipment commissioning and startup, hazardous chemicals, process safety controls, vendor procurement, technical reviews, and acceptance testing.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, process simulation software, or equivalent engineering and modeling tools.
  • Must be able to work at facilities in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Gillette, Wyoming, including relocation to Gillette when construction begins. The facility is subject to Department of Energy Part 810 export-control access requirements.

Nice to have

  • Nuclear industry, fuel-cycle, chemical-processing, or advanced-manufacturing experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees and dependents.
  • Paid vacation and access to a 401(k) plan.
  • Pre-tax health insurance, dependent-care, and commuter benefits through an FSA.
  • Work across office, industrial, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning environments.
  • Schedule flexibility, occasional weekend work, and extended hours may be required during commissioning, startup, and critical milestones.
