TL;DR
Sr. Manufacturing Technician (CNC and CMP Pads Manufacturing): Supporting and maintaining CNC machines, laminators, presses, welders, and other equipment for CMP polishing pad manufacturing with an accent on advanced troubleshooting, process support, and product quality. Focus on leading root-cause investigations, writing CNC programs, applying SPC, Six Sigma, and DOE tools, and implementing continuous manufacturing improvements.

Location: Onsite in Aurora, Illinois, United States. Primary schedule is Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:00 pm CST, with flexible support for first and third shifts, 24/5 and weekend operations, occasional on-call availability, and occasional travel within the United States.

Salary: $26–$38 per hour, depending on experience.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the shift, providing advanced troubleshooting and guidance to operators and supervisors.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot CNC machines, laminators, presses, ultrasonic welders, and other pilot-plant and production equipment.
  • Write and edit CNC programs using M and G codes and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, motor, equipment, and processing issues.
  • Lead root-cause investigations, corrective and preventive actions, equipment qualifications, installations, DOE trials, and new-product scale-ups.
  • Perform inspections and material characterization, including durometer, surface roughness, thickness, density, and compressibility measurements.
  • Train and mentor operators and less experienced technicians while driving improvements in safety, quality, yield, efficiency, and cost.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience operating and maintaining mechanical manufacturing equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with CNC equipment, motors, pneumatics, and production machinery, including the ability to write and edit CNC programs.
  • Ability to interpret Statistical Process Control charts and apply basic Six Sigma and Design of Experiments concepts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree is preferred.
  • Strong safety, planning, organization, collaboration, communication, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Effective English communication and availability for the onsite second-shift schedule are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email is also required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Minitab or JMP, Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, PLC programming, or computerized equipment interfaces.
  • Experience in plastics processing, machining, roll lamination, or CMP polishing pad manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of SAP and LIMS.
