Weld Engineer (All Levels)

Location: Fully on-site in Torrance, California, United States, across office, laboratory, and industrial environments. The role may involve exposure to powders, chemicals, and machining equipment. Candidates must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.

Salary: $122,430–$259,310 USD annually, depending on level.

What you will do

• Lead evaluation, selection, and procurement of welding technologies.
• Design and develop welded joints, welding processes, and parameters for multiple alloy systems and applications.
• Write and implement welding procedures and process qualification plans.
• Characterize weld performance through mechanical testing and metallographic analysis.
• Establish weld quality-control requirements aligned with aerospace and defense standards.
• Coordinate with automation, design, and manufacturing engineers to implement welded joints in production.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in weld engineering, materials science or engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience as a weld engineer in aerospace, defense, or automotive applications.
• Direct experience with automated or robotic welding, laser welding, or aluminum welding.
• Ability to lawfully access US export-controlled information and technology.
• Experience with welding processes such as MIG, TIG, laser beam, friction stir, or resistance welding.
• Knowledge of aerospace alloys, CAD software for fixture design, and AWS, MIL, or ISO welding standards is required or preferred depending on level.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or doctorate in weld engineering, materials science or engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with new product implementation in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Expertise with aluminum, nickel, and stainless steel alloys.
