Small Lab Animal Caretaker II

Location: On-site at the Frederick facility in Frederick, Maryland, United States. The schedule includes weekend and holiday hours.

Salary: $37,100–$53,100 per year.

What you will do

• Provide routine care for laboratory animals, including feeding, housing, housekeeping, and facility upkeep.
• Operate automatic washing equipment and autoclaves.
• Receive and disinfect supplies and equipment.
• Collect hair, fecal, and blood samples for diagnostic testing.
• Maintain basic records, order and stock supplies, and perform basic computer data entry.
• Work scheduled weekend and holiday hours in the research animal facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of laboratory animal care experience.
• Ability to keep basic records and use computers for email, training, and data entry.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear respiratory protective equipment when required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Medical clearance and immunizations may be required because of respirator use and potential exposure to infectious materials and animal materials.
