Veterinary Technician II

Location: Kingsville, Texas, United States; full-time onsite

Salary: $20.04–$25.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience. The proposed minimum salary is $17.55 per hour.

What you will do

• Perform daily vivarium rounds, provide animal care and husbandry, treat animals, and report health or environmental changes.
• Maintain animal inventories, health records, surveillance programs, diagnostic samples, and sanitation assessments.
• Support anesthesia, surgical assistance, aseptic procedures, animal monitoring, and surgical-room protocols.
• Operate and maintain cage-washing machines, autoclaves, laboratory equipment, and other facility systems.
• Clean, decontaminate, and sterilize animal rooms, floors, walls, equipment, and supplies using approved disinfectants.
• Prepare animal transfer and housing documentation, coordinate with the veterinarian, and assist with ordering and supply storage.

Requirements

• Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of technical experience in veterinary medicine.
• Knowledge of veterinary equipment, animal handling, high-flow and low-flow anesthesia, and injectable and inhalant anesthesia.
• Ability to follow SOPs, training manuals, biosafety procedures, and operation manuals.
• Basic computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, and billing entry, with effective communication and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work different shifts, alternate shifts, overtime, holidays, weekends, and on-call coverage in Kingsville, Texas.
