Staff Cloud and AI Solutions Architect (AI)

Location: Sunnyvale, California or Warren, Michigan, United States

Salary: $189,300–$290,700 per year, plus performance-based bonus potential.

What you will do

• Define the architecture for scalable mapping databases, including data models, storage, ingestion, transformation, APIs, metadata, lineage, quality, governance, and delivery.
• Build and productionize reusable cloud-native services using infrastructure as code, containers, automated deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, and security practices.
• Establish data contracts, validation frameworks, observability, and operational standards for trustworthy mapping data.
• Design and deploy knowledge-grounded Agentic AI solutions for data discovery, technical search, validation, diagnostics, incident triage, and engineering productivity.
• Define patterns for retrieval, tool use, orchestration, access control, evaluation, human oversight, and safe operation of AI agents.
• Lead architecture reviews and technical workshops, create reference implementations, resolve cross-team technical boundaries, and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Senior technical leadership experience across architecture, implementation, and production operations.
• Strong experience with cloud-native distributed systems, data-intensive applications, reliability engineering, and at least one major cloud platform such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, containers or Kubernetes, CI/CD, automated testing, observability, cloud security, production operations, and programming in Python, Go, Java, C++, or a comparable language.
• Experience designing data platforms or large-scale pipelines and applying AI, machine learning, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, or workflow automation to practical problems.

Nice to have

• Experience in automotive, software-defined vehicles, ADAS, autonomous driving, mapping, geospatial systems, robotics, simulation, or another safety- and scale-sensitive domain.
• Experience with Azure, Databricks, Terraform, Kubernetes, Spark or PySpark, Kafka, data lakes, or lakehouse architectures.
• Experience with vector databases, semantic search, knowledge graphs, metadata platforms, document intelligence, or knowledge-grounded AI.
• Experience with internal developer platforms, model training, digital twins, high-volume analytics, or AI governance and responsible-use practices.
