TL;DR
Analyst, EIT, Global Investment Banking (Energy Infrastructure & Transition) (M&A/Capital Markets): Supporting investment banking transactions and advisory mandates across power, utilities, infrastructure, renewables, and energy transition with an accent on financial modeling, valuation, industry research, and client presentation materials. Focus on executing complex M&A and financing assignments, analyzing transaction comparables, conducting due diligence, and coordinating with global deal teams.

Location: New York, NY, 300 Madison Avenue; candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and hold a valid work or study permit where applicable.

Salary: $115,000–$135,000 annually for the New York market, based on experience, qualifications, and location.

What you will do

  • Support M&A, strategic advisory, capital structure advisory, equity and debt financings, and tax equity transactions.
  • Build and audit financial models and prepare valuation, cash flow, returns, industry, and company analyses.
  • Conduct industry research, company due diligence, comparable company analysis, and precedent transaction analysis.
  • Prepare client proposals, pitches, presentations, and recommendations for new and existing mandates.
  • Coordinate with CIBC Capital Markets teams and global offices while supporting client and deal-focused collaboration.
  • Develop relationships with clients, prospects, product groups, and market stakeholders; mentor analyst teammates.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, engineering, or economics.
  • At least 6 months of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or private equity, including meaningful financial modeling and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of valuation techniques, cash flow and returns analysis, accounting principles, and business combinations.
  • Advanced quantitative, research, writing, communication, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and financial information platforms such as CapitalIQ, Refinitiv, FactSet, or Bloomberg.
  • SIE completion is required before the start date if not already obtained; FINRA Series 63 and either Series 7 or 79 are advantageous.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of power, renewables, utilities, infrastructure, midstream, upstream energy, or energy transition sectors.
  • Direct investment banking experience and FINRA Series 63 plus Series 7 or 79 licenses.
