TL;DR
RF Electronics Engineer (Fusion Energy): Designing and validating custom control boards, precision power supplies, sensing circuits, and high-power RF electronics for the SPARC tokamak with an accent on board-level bring-up, circuit simulation, PCB design, and EMI/EMC mitigation. Focus on integrating hardware with software controls, operating high-power RF systems, and transitioning prototypes from the benchtop to full-scale fusion operation.

Location: Devens, Massachusetts, United States; on-site

Company

hirify.global develops SPARC, a fusion system that uses high-power RF electronics to sustain fusion reactions and heat plasma.

What you will do

  • Architect and design custom control boards, precision power supplies, and sensing circuits for distributed high-power solid-state RF amplifiers.
  • Collaborate with software, RF, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to integrate electronics into the broader system architecture.
  • Write technical specifications for external vendors and internal engineering teams.
  • Simulate and model electronic circuits and power systems to validate performance and address EMI/EMC risks.
  • Assemble and bring up prototypes on the bench, transitioning designs into the integrated RF system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing power electronics, control boards, or RF support circuitry.
  • Experience with circuit simulation software such as SPICE.
  • Advanced PCB design skills using Altium or similar tools for instrumentation, sensing, power supplies, and control systems.
  • Strong modeling skills for validating electronics architecture and mitigating EMI/EMC issues in high-power, high-noise environments.
  • Ability to work on-site in an industrial facility, lift up to 50 pounds, and work occasional nights, weekends, on-call shifts, or travel as required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with high-voltage systems and environments.
  • Requirements engineering and decomposition of system requirements into hardware specifications.
  • Experience with RF systems, especially high-power RF heating systems.
  • Thermal management for densely packed, high-power PCB assemblies.
  • Systems-level understanding of embedded digital controllers and high-speed communications.

Culture & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation with equity.
  • 13 company-wide holidays and flexible vacation days.
  • 10 sick days and generous parental leave.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer matching.
  • Professional growth opportunities and team-building activities.

Hiring process

  • Employment is contingent on compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws governing controlled or protected technologies and information.
