Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer (Biotech)

Location: Full-time, in-person at hirify.global HQ in Dallas, Texas, United States. Flexible schedule required, including occasional early or late hours and weekend work for scientific team needs and equipment troubleshooting.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain automation methods using Hamilton Venus/Revolution and HighRes Cellario schedulers.
• Support daily operation, consumable management, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated laboratory instrumentation and integrated systems.
• Diagnose mechanical, software, and system integration issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment upgrades, modifications, installation, testing, and validation.
• Coordinate issue triage with end users, vendors, and external service providers while maintaining equipment and validation records.
• Train users and contribute to process improvements that increase laboratory efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a scientific discipline, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience with automated laboratory instruments and integrated automation systems.
• Experience troubleshooting and developing custom scripts for Hamilton STAR/VANTAGE, SPT Labtech firefly+, and other liquid-handling instruments.
• Experience troubleshooting and writing protocols for Hamilton Venus and HighRes Bio Cellario schedulers.
• Programming proficiency in HSL, VBScript, JavaScript, Python, C++, or R.
• Strong analytical, collaboration, documentation, communication, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of cell line development, FACS, NGS workflows, cell maintenance and expansion, stem cell differentiation, genotyping, or high-throughput screening.
• Experience with Agilent VWorks, Beckman Coulter Tempo/Echo, or Formulatrix Cellmatic/Stack schedulers.
