Regional Buyer I (Grocery)

Location: Onsite five days a week in Landover, Maryland, United States

Base salary: $63,000–$72,000 per year

What you will do

• Source seasonal and year-round grocery products using customer preferences, market trends, and competitor research.
• Build vendor partnerships, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor supplier performance through scorecards.
• Plan purchase orders, replenishment, promotional flow, and inventory levels using sales history and forecasts.
• Partner with Warehouse on product inspection, quality assurance, and cold-storage standards.
• Collaborate with Customer Service, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve inventory and customer issues.
• Track revenue, margin, availability, inventory projections, and other KPIs, then present reports to senior leadership.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in grocery or perishables buying, category management, or sourcing in wholesale or retail.
• Knowledge of product quality standards and supply chain dynamics.
• Hands-on experience with vendor negotiation and inventory management.
• Strong Excel and procurement-tool skills for analysis and reporting.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and relational databases.
• Ability to work onsite five days a week in Landover, Maryland.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Analytics, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field.
• Experience with Asian grocery categories.
• Experience in a multicultural or bilingual business environment; Mandarin or Spanish fluency.
• Food Safety Certification.
• Familiarity with internal merchandising tools.
