What you will do

• Oversee the preparation, compounding, verification, and dispensing of oncology pharmaceuticals, including sterile products, chemotherapy, biologics, controlled substances, and investigational medications.
• Evaluate medication orders and investigational protocols for completeness and appropriateness before dispensing.
• Identify, resolve, and prevent drug-related problems and adverse drug events in collaboration with providers and nurses.
• Perform quality control for medication orders, prepared medications, compounding logs, equipment, refrigerators, emergency carts, and controlled-substance inventories.
• Oversee assigned pharmacy technicians and students and support the training of newly hired pharmacists and technicians.
• Work in accordance with federal and state regulations, institute policies, and Joint Commission standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Three years of hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care, or sterile compounding experience, or five years of retail pharmacy experience including two years in oncology; completion of a PGY1 residency may also qualify.
• Pharmacist license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication, critical thinking, medication information, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with patients, providers, nurses, pharmacy staff, and cross-functional teams.
