Associate Embedded Software Engineer (UAS)

Location: 80% onsite in Bingen, Washington, United States. Minimal domestic and international travel of approximately 5% is required. Candidates must be a US Person under ITAR and authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available unless specifically stated.

Salary: $84,000–$134,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and geographic differential.

What you will do

• Write, test, and debug C/C++ embedded firmware for microcontroller-based aircraft and ground equipment.
• Bring up new hardware boards through bench testing, sensor and peripheral integration, and oscilloscope or logic analyzer debugging.
• Integrate embedded devices with UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and RF communication interfaces.
• Troubleshoot field-reported hardware and firmware issues and isolate root causes with senior engineers.
• Support unit and integration testing by building test fixtures and simple automation scripts.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers on hardware and firmware co-design.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least six months of experience, internships, or coursework programming microcontrollers such as Arduino, STM32, or ESP32 in C/C++.
• Hands-on experience building or programming physical devices through school, club, personal, or similar projects.
• Understanding of UART, SPI, and I2C, along with basic digital and analog electronics and circuit schematics.
• Ability to work onsite in Bingen and meet the US Person under ITAR and current US work authorization requirements.
• Ability to work with electronic equipment, production areas, required PPE, and equipment weighing up to 30 lb/14 kg.

Nice to have

• Experience with RTOS concepts, bare-metal embedded programming, CAN bus, or RF communication modules.
• Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, Git, or Python for test automation and tooling.
• Coursework or project experience in embedded systems, digital logic, robotics, operating systems, or computer architecture.
• Evidence of self-directed learning, open-source contributions, or personal and competition projects.
