Senior Lead Software Engineer - Backend (AWS)

Location: Plano, Texas; candidates must reside within a commutable distance. The role requires authorization to work in the United States without current or future hirify.global immigration sponsorship.

What you will do

• Set backend and platform architecture standards across product domains.
• Design and maintain full-stack features, including APIs, serverless services, data models, and event-driven workflows.
• Lead technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and RFC processes.
• Resolve performance, reliability, scaling, infrastructure, and distributed-systems issues.
• Define testing, observability, deployment-safety, and code-quality practices.
• Mentor engineers, collaborate with Product and Front-End Engineering, support hiring, and communicate technical trade-offs.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with backend or full-stack focus and principal- or staff-level experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Deep experience designing serverless architectures on AWS, including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB or Aurora Serverless, Step Functions, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, S3, and CloudFront.
• Strong TypeScript and/or Python skills, with experience building RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, observability, security, distributed-system debugging, and unit, integration, contract, and load testing.
• Must already have the right to work in the United States and must not require employment-based visa or work authorization sponsorship.

• Financial services, banking, or insurance industry experience.
• Multi-account AWS architecture, data streaming, CI/CD, GraphQL federation, or open-source experience.
• GenAI backend integrations using Bedrock, SageMaker, or LLM orchestration patterns.
• AWS certifications, a master’s degree, or experience leading organization-wide technical initiatives.
