Quality Systems Engineer (Advanced Manufacturing)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. Onsite manufacturing environment with occasional travel of up to 10% for customer audits, supplier evaluations, or off-site quality initiatives.

Salary: $96,350–$153,040 USD annually, depending on level.

What you will do

• Lead internal audits and host customer and third-party audits of the quality management system.
• Manage corrective and preventive actions, including root cause analysis, action planning, and effectiveness reviews.
• Analyze KPIs, nonconformance trends, yield, defect rates, and delivery data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Develop quality dashboards, reports, process controls, inspection criteria, and acceptance standards.
• Support process validation, quality control planning, and deployment of new inspection technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, customers, and suppliers while mentoring quality team members.

Requirements

• Ability to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls.
• Experience leading quality initiatives focused on process improvement, defect reduction, and inspection optimization in manufacturing.
• Proficiency with PPAP, FMEA, and root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of CMM programming, Gage R&R, sampling techniques, and advanced inspection methods.
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a production environment with frequent standing, walking, and light lifting up to 25 pounds.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related Engineering, or equivalent quality-focused experience.
• Experience in automotive, aerospace, or defense and familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949.
• Experience with customer and registrar audits, SPC, and Cpk analysis.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or higher, or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification.
• Experience with additive manufacturing or automated inspection systems.
