Vice President of Research & Development (AI)

Location: Remote - Oklahoma, United States

Salary: $125,000–$135,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Lead AI-enabled, agentic delivery across development teams, including governance, validation, security review, tooling, training, and maturity reporting.
• Set the multi-year technical roadmap for corrections and law enforcement product lines and evaluate AI-driven customer and revenue opportunities.
• Own release commitments, delivery reporting, cross-team dependencies, development standards, and engineering metrics across independently operating companies.
• Set product quality, automated testing, release readiness, security, and regulatory standards for human-written and AI-generated code.
• Lead engineering managers and directors, recruit and retain technical talent, and structure onshore, offshore, and contract capacity.
• Own the R&D budget, platform modernization, technical debt reduction, executive communication, and acquisition integration support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 10 years of software development experience and 3 years leading engineering organizations at director level or above.
• Hands-on daily use of AI development tools and experience moving engineering teams toward agentic, human-on-the-loop delivery.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, cloud technologies, modern development methods, secure development, and enterprise software delivery.
• Experience translating AI capabilities into customer-facing value and revenue, managing multi-product or multi-company portfolios, and owning budgets.
• Experience modernizing legacy platforms while supporting installed customers; public-sector, public-safety, or regulated-market software experience is strongly preferred.
