TL;DR
Principal Systems Hardware Engineer (Medical Devices): Developing and sustaining complex hardware systems for Digital Health, HealthCast Acute Care, and Monitoring products with an accent on electrical requirements, wireless technologies, battery-powered systems, and regulated medical-device design. Focus on leading hardware architecture, schematics and PCB development, verification, system integration, root-cause investigations, and mentoring engineering teams.

Location: Onsite in Mounds View, Minnesota, or Lafayette, Colorado, United States

Salary: $140,800–$211,200 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Own hardware and electrical requirements for new and existing Digital Health products.
  • Provide technical leadership for hardware architecture, design, development, verification, reliability, manufacturing, and scalability.
  • Develop and review schematics, PCB layouts, component selections, and electrical testing deliverables.
  • Perform hardware debugging, verification, system integration, and root-cause investigations for complex technical issues.
  • Evaluate wireless technologies, batteries, battery-powered systems, and emerging hardware technologies.
  • Collaborate with software, mechanical, systems, manufacturing, and other engineering leaders while mentoring engineers and supporting product releases.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in the medical device industry in systems, digital, or software development.
  • Experience with at least five major product or portfolio releases.
  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and extensive hands-on hardware development experience.
  • Knowledge of medical-device standards, including IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-2, FCC-related requirements, and ANSI C63.27.
  • Experience with CAD tools, hardware debugging, verification, system integration, patient-contacting devices, and related regulations.
  • Ability to understand complex system behavior, communicate technical ideas effectively, work autonomously, and manage ambiguity.

  • Experience with Agile methodology.
  • Experience in a regulated product industry.
  • Experience with stage-gate processes in the medical-device lifecycle.
  • A robust portfolio demonstrating previous design work.
