Senior Systems Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Boston or Raynham, Massachusetts, United States; minimum three days per week in the office

Salary: $92,000–$148,350 annually

What you will do

• Define system architectures, prototype requirements, demonstration strategies, success criteria, and interfaces for advanced technology proofs of concept.
• Integrate external technologies with electromechanical subsystems, software, sensing, and controls.
• Plan and execute feasibility, characterization, bench, simulated-use, and prototype demonstration activities.
• Evaluate performance, durability, accuracy, repeatability, failure modes, risks, limitations, and evidence gaps using statistical and data-driven methods.
• Lead technical reviews, investigate anomalies through root cause analysis, and support corrective actions and technology transition decisions.
• Prepare prototypes for internal and external demonstrations, surgeon engagement, Voice of Customer activities, and cadaveric specimen testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in multidisciplinary systems engineering, prototype development, or applied research.
• Experience with systems engineering, prototype development, demonstration planning, requirements, and technical documentation.
• Ability to work hands-on with prototypes and perform or support bench, verification, and characterization testing while accurately recording results.
• Proficiency in statistical methods, strong technical writing, and clear demonstration reporting.
• Strong collaboration, technical judgment, independence, and curiosity about emerging technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices, surgical robotics, navigation, or digital surgery.
• Knowledge of embedded systems, software or firmware development, electromechanical systems, sensing technologies, or controls.
• Experience with Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, prototyping tools, or automation tools.
