Productivity Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States; preference for candidates near company hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York City. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available.

Salary: $224,000–$255,000 base compensation annually, plus potential equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered systems that increase the effectiveness of engineering teams.
• Work with frontend, backend, AI/ML, infrastructure, and FDE teams to identify workflow problems and improve throughput and quality.
• Evaluate software, infrastructure, and AI offerings from frontier labs, cloud providers, hyperscalers, and neoclouds.
• Build systems for human and agent users, including high-throughput CI/CD pipelines and integrations across application platforms.
• Drive tool distribution and adoption through enablement, feedback collection, and technical telemetry.
• Measure system performance and value creation while balancing cost, speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in platform, infrastructure, developer experience, or DevOps roles.
• Ability to independently architect and ship complex systems with minimal oversight.
• Experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications.
• Experience with agent primitives such as skills, MCPs, hooks, SDKs, multi-agent systems, routing, context management, and cost management.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Nix/NixOS, Homebrew, or MDM tools.
• Clear communication, strong ownership, and comfort working in rapidly changing environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Go, TypeScript, Linux administration, Git, CI tooling, and engineering on-call rotations.
• Experience deploying AI systems in enterprise environments and integrating third-party enterprise systems and APIs.
• Familiarity with authentication, security constraints, enterprise IT environments, and production debugging in unfamiliar codebases.
• Experience with Argo, cdk8s, OpenTelemetry, Observe, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Spacelift, CircleCI, or GitHub Actions.
• Startup or early-stage product-building experience.
