Portfolio Manager I - SBA Credit (Business Banking)

Location: In office at 555 South Flower Street, Los Angeles, California, or offices in Irvine and La Jolla, California, US

Salary: $41.83–$66.81 per hour, plus eligibility for bonus and/or commissions.

What you will do

• Underwrite and manage an assigned portfolio of business banking credits for privately held companies with revenues up to $50 million.
• Recommend credit structures and banking solutions for working capital, capital expenditures, commercial real estate financing, and growth.
• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, projections, and cash flow pro formas.
• Prepare underwriting memorandums, approval documents, and credit recommendations for Credit Risk.
• Monitor portfolio performance, risk ratings, reporting covenants, covenant compliance, and periodic portfolio reviews.
• Partner with Relationship Managers, clients, and cross-functional teams while mentoring junior colleagues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of progressively increasing credit underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Experience with credit management and lending operations and a strong understanding of risk management principles.
• Ability to analyze complex data, assess creditworthiness, and make informed credit decisions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work in the designated City National office; the role is not fully remote.
