Application Engineer I (HVAC)

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia, United States. Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday; Friday work location is flexible. Some travel to construction sites within the district is required.

Annual base salary: $56,800–$116,700. Compensation type: exception hourly.

What you will do

• Gather operational data, trends, and charts to prepare customer-facing documentation.
• Work with customers and internal stakeholders to identify and develop facility key performance indicators.
• Diagnose energy opportunities and develop projects addressing facility issues and efficiency goals.
• Support pull-through business development and help customers achieve their energy objectives.
• Perform remote site analysis through web-based access and lead technical strategy review meetings.
• Support new contract onboarding, existing contract execution, and management activities.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field; alternatively, 3+ years of HVAC project management or estimating experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Familiarity with HVAC system operation and design, building automation systems, and/or temperature controls.
• Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office products.
• Experience with a drafting or design program.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure, network architecture, and industry-standard integration protocols.
• Valid driver's license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.

• Knowledge of new construction, renovation and retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
