Applications Engineer I (HVAC)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia, United States; onsite Monday through Thursday with a flexible work location on Fridays

Salary: $52,300–$107,400 annual base salary; exception hourly compensation

What you will do

• Gather operational data, trends, and charts to create customer-facing documentation and consultation reports.
• Work with customers and internal stakeholders to identify and develop facility key performance indicators.
• Diagnose energy opportunities and develop projects addressing facility issues and performance goals.
• Support pull-through business development and help customers achieve their energy objectives.
• Perform remote site analysis, lead technical strategy review meetings, and support contract onboarding and execution.
• Travel to construction sites within the district to determine controls solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, construction, engineering technology, or a related field; alternatively, 3+ years of HVAC project management or estimating experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Practical experience is considered in place of a four-year degree.
• Familiarity with HVAC systems, building automation systems, and temperature controls.
• Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and a drafting or design program.
• Understanding of IT infrastructure, network architecture, and industry-standard integration protocols.
• Valid driver's license held for at least 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations.

• Knowledge of new construction, renovation and retrofit, performance contracting, and service project management.
