Deputy Editor (Insurance)

Location: Remote within the United States, or office-based in Charlotte, Seattle, or Denver. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Base pay: $85,000–$110,000 per year, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Assign, edit, and publish content from in-house and contributing writers across multiple insurance products.
• Serve as an insurance subject-matter expert, ensuring content is accurate, clear, helpful, and compliant.
• Improve content quality, substance, style, search performance, and consistency across the insurance SEO library.
• Manage editorial workflows, publishing priorities, content gaps, and production bottlenecks.
• Coach writers, write copy as needed, and occasionally speak to the media about insurance content and research.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in personal finance or insurance content, preferably including editing.
• Insurance experience in one or more areas such as home, auto, health, business, or pet insurance.
• Strong writing, editing, grammar, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Experience with or interest in SEO best practices and content optimization.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple projects and coaching writers.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Project management or freelancer management experience.
• Fluency with AI tools.
• Experience with spreadsheet tools such as Excel and using data to identify content and search opportunities.
