Web Content Specialist (SEO)

Location: Onsite in the National Capital Region, including Washington, DC and McLean, VA; remote work is also listed. U.S. citizenship is required.

Salary: $60,000–$75,000 per year

What you will do

• Write, edit, proofread, and develop content for documents, marketing materials, Public Roads magazine, websites, intranets, and social media.
• Create newsletters, brochures, fact sheets, guides, posters, scripts, presentations, FAQs, surveys, talking points, and other communication materials.
• Maintain version control, quality assurance, branding consistency, and publication standards throughout production.
• Upload, maintain, and publish content through content management systems.
• Optimize web content for SEO and ensure compliance with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
• Coordinate quarterly certification of current agency information and edit or manipulate web images when needed.

Requirements

• 5–7 years of professional experience in web content management, including at least 3 years within the last 5 years.
• Previous web experience and a bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or a related discipline.
• U.S. citizenship is required for this opportunity.
• Must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and pass the required government background investigation.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, CMS, SEO, accessibility, and publication-formatting skills.
• Transportation experience, particularly highway and surface transportation, is preferred.
