Linux Kernel Software Engineer (Systems Engineering)

What you will do

• Develop new Linux kernel features for enterprise storage products.
• Maintain and patch Linux code to resolve complex technical and customer issues.
• Optimize kernel performance within enterprise storage arrays.
• Diagnose hardware-software boundary problems with cross-functional teams, partners, and vendors.
• Lead software architecture and development from concept through release, ensuring resilient and high-performance outcomes.
• Participate in code reviews, define requirements for storage server projects, and mentor peers.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Linux kernel or Unix development and device drivers preferred.
• Strong knowledge of computer architecture, operating systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures.
• Experience optimizing CPU instruction sets, NUMA, interrupt handling, and threading performance.
• Exceptional debugging, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Professional experience with C; C++ experience is valued.

Nice to have

• Experience upstreaming Linux kernel code.
• Knowledge of storage systems and protocols, especially NVMe and PCIe.
• Experience working with hardware vendors to resolve complex issues.
