Benefits Manager (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary: $115K–$130K annually

What you will do

• Own benefits administration across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and voluntary programs.
• Lead monthly reconciliation across carriers and legal entities, resolving billing, eligibility, payroll, HRIS, and carrier data discrepancies.
• Manage ACA reporting and compliance, including affordability testing, eligibility tracking, IRS filings, and responses to notices.
• Lead the transition from level-funded or fully insured medical plans to self-funded plans, including plan design, stop-loss selection, implementation, and claims modeling.
• Own the full open enrollment cycle, including vendor coordination, system configuration, employee communications, testing, and post-enrollment audits.
• Partner with Finance, Legal, Payroll, HRIS, brokers, TPAs, and carriers on plan strategy, analytics, vendor management, and process documentation.

Requirements

• 5–8+ years of progressive employee benefits experience with direct plan ownership.
• Hands-on experience transitioning medical plans to self-funded arrangements, including stop-loss procurement and financial risk modeling.
• Strong knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and PCORI requirements, including 1094-C/1095-C reporting.
• Experience managing carrier billing audits, eligibility discrepancies, and benefits data integrity.
• Experience with an HRIS such as ADP Workforce Now and strong Excel and analytical skills.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; U.S. work authorization is required.

• Multi-entity or multi-state benefits administration experience.
• Experience in healthcare, clinical, or matrixed organizations.
• Experience maintaining a benefits knowledge base and ticketing system.
• CEBS, CBP, or an equivalent benefits certification.
