Portfolio Underwriter, SME Package & Commercial Combined (Insurance)

What you will do

• Underwrite new and existing SME Commercial Package and Commercial Combined business in line with financial targets and underwriting authorities.
• Manage key broker and scheme accounts, conduct portfolio reviews, and drive profitable growth or remediate performance.
• Handle underwriting referrals from brokers, schemes, MGAs, and junior staff across multiple underwriting platforms.
• Build relationships with brokers and internal stakeholders while providing underwriting guidance and service.
• Become a subject matter expert on the Acturis trading platform and support product development, change, and growth initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory and risk-management responsibilities and contribute to underwriting standards and philosophies.

Requirements

• Strong commercial underwriting background at a company, MGA, or underwriting agency.
• Experience handling SME and Property and Casualty business, including commercial underwriting referrals.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Numerical and analytical ability, including analysis of management information and portfolio performance data.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams while prioritizing effectively.
• Competence in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new underwriting and e-trade platforms.
