Associate Underwriter - Professional Risks

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid work with three days per week in the office and two days at home

What you will do

• Underwrite and assess risks across an allocated portfolio of solicitors and professional liability accounts.
• Manage renewals, support new business and mid-term alteration underwriting, and make decisions within delegated authority.
• Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and deliver results aligned with underwriting strategies and financial targets.
• Build collaborative relationships with brokers, Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, Risk Control, and other internal teams.
• Support broker engagement, sales planning, customer meetings, and activities that grow the portfolio profitably.
• Provide responsive customer service and participate in underwriting, sales, and professional development activities.

Requirements

• Previous insurance experience, including underwriting experience in Financial Lines or professional liability.
• Knowledge of the local insurance marketplace and relevant organisational and regulatory requirements.
• University degree or secondary-level education equivalent.
• Basic product and technical proficiency appropriate to underwriting authority.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and a full, valid driving licence.
• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification.
