Engineering Functional Lead - Innovation (Fintech)

Location: Boston, United States

Salary: $170,000–$230,000 annual base salary plus annual target bonus; ranges are listed for Massachusetts and New Jersey.

What you will do

• Lead early-stage technical strategy, architecture definition, and feasibility validation for new fintech product concepts.
• Translate ambiguous product ideas into concrete technical approaches and align market intent with feasible capabilities.
• Guide multidisciplinary concept teams through prioritization, sequencing, execution strategy, and technical decision-making.
• Assess risks, constraints, dependencies, architecture implications, and alignment with enterprise architecture, IT, and security standards.
• Develop technical cost models covering build cost, operating cost, and product unit economics.
• Support prototypes, technical interfaces, lightweight implementations, and external development partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10–15 years of experience leading technical design and architecture for complex greenfield products.
• Experience delivering cloud-based or enterprise-grade B2B solutions and working with modern application architectures.
• Strong problem-solving, estimation, risk analysis, and communication skills for technical and senior non-technical audiences.
• Experience with cloud-native applications, APIs, SaaS platforms, AI/ML, and Generative AI where applicable.
• Experience with Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe, plus financial modeling for technology investments or product unit economics.
