Customer Engineer – International Development Program (m/f/d) (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Dresden, Germany, with a required 12-month international assignment in Taiwan. The role includes up to 20% travel, with higher travel during the first 18 months. Candidates must be authorized to live and work in Germany and able to return to Germany after the Taiwan assignment.

What you will do

• Learn to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance across electrical, mechanical, vacuum, plasma, hydraulic, gas, and related systems.
• Support equipment installations, system start-ups, hardware and process start-up activities.
• Apply diagnostic techniques and structured troubleshooting methods to resolve equipment issues.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to support equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
• Follow safety, quality, operational, and cleanroom procedures while using knowledge-management systems and best-known methods.

Requirements

• Associate, bachelor's, or master's degree, mechatronics qualification, military technical training, trade certification, or equivalent technical education.
• 0–3 years of experience in field service, maintenance, installation engineering, manufacturing support, automation, electronics, mechanical engineering, or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and perform basic troubleshooting.
• Mechanical aptitude involving pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems, or thermodynamics, plus familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, basic Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiency, and a valid driver's license.
• Valid authorization to live and work in Germany, ability to return to Germany after the Taiwan assignment, and ability to meet customer-site safety, environmental, and health requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in cleanroom environments or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Exposure to semiconductor equipment, electrical or mechanical systems, pneumatics, vacuum, automation, robotics, or process systems.
• International mindset and experience working in multicultural teams.
