TL;DR
Senior HITL Engineer I (Spacecraft Hardware-in-the-Loop): Designing, operating, and maintaining hardware-in-the-loop systems for spacecraft buses with an accent on electronics testing, flight hardware, simulation platforms, and technical documentation. Focus on analyzing test data, troubleshooting anomalies, and verifying spacecraft functionality across cross-disciplinary teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite at hirify.global's headquarters. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements. Work on U.S. office programs is subject to ITAR and related U.S. export-control eligibility requirements.

Base salary: $97,600–$134,200 per year. Total compensation including equity: $111,650–$158,900 per year.

What you will do

  • Design, build, operate, and maintain hardware-in-the-loop systems for spacecraft buses.
  • Work hands-on with test and flight hardware and operate launch vehicle simulation platforms for mission day-of-launch operations.
  • Verify spacecraft bus functionality and performance with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Create and maintain system diagrams, schematics, ICDs, procedures, and test and anomaly reports.
  • Analyze raw test data against pass/fail criteria and troubleshoot anomaly root causes.
  • Operate test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers, and communicate findings to teams, vendors, and customers.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechatronics, electronics, computer science, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in hardware or software development.
  • Experience with electronics testing and designing and implementing electronics test systems.
  • Ability to work with test hardware, analyze results, troubleshoot anomalies, and produce technical documentation.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PIL/HIL environments, avionics testing, code verification and validation, or spacecraft systems.
  • Knowledge of RS-485/422/232, CAN, LVDS, Ethernet TCP/IP, sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition electronics.
  • Experience with Python, C++, Linux, CI/CD, Git, PLCs, relays, power systems, RF systems, or containerization.
  • Familiarity with CAD, harness design, test fixtures, and tools such as NX, VeSys, RapidHarness, or SolidWorks.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
