Lead Avionics Test Engineer (Aerospace)

Salary: $160,000–$240,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and lead a team of avionics test engineers, including hiring, technical direction, prioritization, and collaboration.
• Own the lifecycle of avionics unit test systems, from architecture and rack design through implementation, validation, and production sustainment.
• Partner with design teams on Design for Test feedback, test coverage evaluation, and test planning.
• Develop automated test systems with commercial equipment, custom PCBAs, harnesses, instrumentation, and test software.
• Integrate test systems with manufacturing execution systems and test data archives.
• Investigate test anomalies and production failures, drive corrective actions, and support vehicle-level failure investigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM-related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in avionics development, hardware test, manufacturing, or test automation involving hardware and software.
• Experience leading engineers and developing automated test solutions for high-reliability electronics.
• Experience with test equipment, automation software, validation activities, and production test infrastructure.
• Experience with automated test racks, custom PCBAs, signal conditioning, instrumentation, or wire harness design.
• Experience with Python, C, C++, LabVIEW, embedded software, avionics interfaces, or relevant design tools is required for the technical scope of the role.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810, shock, thermal, burn-in, TVAC, vibration, or EMI/EMC testing.
• Experience with power electronics, motor controllers, GNC sensors, optics, RF devices, Ethernet, RS-422, RS-485, or CAN.
• Experience with Altium Designer or equivalent tools, firmware integration, nonconformance, MRB, or corrective action processes in flight hardware production.
