TL;DR
Oracle Database Consultant (Oracle/PostgreSQL): Managing and improving database and application infrastructure for multiple clients with an accent on Oracle administration, backup and disaster recovery, cloud monitoring, and database migrations. Focus on designing resilient data architectures, troubleshooting complex incidents, automating operational tasks, and migrating databases between on-premises and cloud environments.
Location: Argentina; fully remote from home with no daily office travel required

What you will do
- Design, implement, administer, maintain, and upgrade Oracle database and application infrastructure.
- Analyze client infrastructure and improve operational procedures, uptime, recoverability, and database performance.
- Administer backups, disaster recovery, clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and database restoration.
- Develop data architectures, data models, DDL, transformation scripts, and migration procedures.
- Manage recurring problems, incidents, client commitments, technical documentation, reports, and change-control activities.
- Participate in the on-call rotation, typically one weekend per month, and contribute to monitoring and process improvements.
Requirements
- Experience installing, configuring, upgrading, and administering Oracle databases and related tools.
- Experience with automation technologies such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef, or Salt.
- Strong debugging, systematic troubleshooting, documentation, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Experience with cloud database monitoring, including AWS CloudWatch, Google Cloud Operations, and Azure Monitor.
- Experience migrating Oracle, MySQL, and MSSQL databases to PostgreSQL, including use of ora2pg, cloud Database Migration Services, and CDC-based techniques.
- Experience with on-premises-to-cloud migrations, schema conversion, SQL compatibility, and post-migration performance tuning.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of ITIL and experience contributing to Oracle, database, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with Debezium, Striim, PostgreSQL monitoring tools, and PostgreSQL administration in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Scripting experience with Bash or Python, and software development experience with C++, Java, or Go.
