Database Engineer (Oracle/PostgreSQL)

Location: Remote within the United States; candidates must reside in AL, AZ, DC, FL, GA, ID, MD, MS, NJ, NC, OK, OH, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, or WV. Occasional travel to FAA facilities and other locations in the Continental United States may be required.

What you will do

• Administer Oracle RAC and cloud-based PostgreSQL/Aurora databases supporting mission-critical FAA workloads.
• Maintain database availability, performance, capacity, schemas, access controls, backups, recovery, patching, upgrades, replication, and high-availability configurations.
• Use RMAN and operational tools to protect data, validate recoverability, and support production and non-production environments.
• Monitor platform health, analyze logs and metrics, diagnose incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and tune SQL, storage, indexing, and database configurations.
• Support database operations, release cycles, modernization, migrations, and transitions to cloud and NoSQL/SQL architectures.
• Coordinate with application, ETL, platform, security, and product teams while maintaining technical documentation and security assessment evidence.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Must reside in one of the specified U.S. states.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• At least four years of database administration and/or engineering experience in an enterprise environment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• FAA or federal database operations experience.
• Experience with regulated, high-availability production environments.
• Experience with cloud database modernization, NoSQL platforms, automation, and enterprise data warehouses.
