Advanced Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States, or hybrid/onsite in Seattle or Chicago

Salary: $103,000–$155,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus and long-term incentives

What you will do

• Build full-stack features for Gavel Exec, including agent tools, prompts, context, services, API endpoints, and front-end functionality in the Microsoft Word add-in and web app.
• Develop and interpret evaluations for agentic systems, ship changes behind feature flags, and monitor production outcomes.
• Improve reliability by fixing bugs, adding tests, and investigating how agentic systems fail.
• Use small commits, feature-flagged deployments, fast rollbacks, and modern agentic engineering tools.
• Pair with Senior and Lead engineers on design and code reviews while taking on increasingly ambiguous problems.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• Working proficiency in TypeScript or Python and hands-on experience with full-stack web applications, React or similar front-end development, services, and relational databases using SQL.
• Experience building an agentic solution with LLMs, such as an agent, retrieval-augmented generation application, or tool-using assistant.
• Ability to explain system prompts, tool calls, embeddings, and common agent failure points.
• Basic familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP, containers, and CI/CD, plus strong data structures, algorithms, and testing fundamentals.
• Clear written and spoken English is required.
