Underwriting Customer Service Representative (Insurance)

What you will do

• Provide prompt and courteous customer service support for the Underwriting Department.
• Answer, document, and make phone calls to verify application information with applicants and agents.
• Prepare letters and agent portal messages regarding amendments, additional requirements, declines, withdrawn applications, and application or policy issues.
• Follow up on pending requirements, application issues, agent problems, stop payments, returned checks, and overpayments.
• Process check requests, additional cash with applications, application records, and database updates.
• Support data entry and quality control processes during high-volume periods while maintaining accuracy and timely processing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Up to two years of customer support experience.
• Strong phone-handling, active listening, communication, and documentation skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize work, manage time effectively, and adapt to different people and tasks.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, scheduled-shift availability, rotating schedule flexibility, and willingness to work overtime as needed.

Nice to have

• Background in medical insurance.
• Agent license without active appointments.
