What you will do
- Oversee the day-to-day Bermuda statutory close and financial reporting process for applicable regulated entities.
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly journal entries, controls, reinsurance calculations, and BSTAT reporting.
- Coordinate quarterly financial close activities with Actuarial, FP&A, Reinsurance Accounting, Investment Accounting, and Tax.
- Act as a key contact for audited year-end BSTAT financial statements, Bermuda Monetary Authority filings, and ad hoc regulatory requests.
- Review Bermuda-related disclosures for SEC 10-K and 10-Q reporting and stand-alone legal entity GAAP reporting.
- Mentor and manage accountants and managerial representatives while improving Bermuda finance processes and controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a recognized accounting qualification such as CPA or ACCA.
- At least 7 years of professional experience, including 5 or more recent years in life and annuity insurance and reinsurance accounting.
- Experience with US GAAP and Bermuda regulatory reporting for insurance and reinsurance companies and life and annuity products.
- Experience managing team members and maintaining strong working relationships across departments.
- Strong controls background, including Sarbanes-Oxley experience.
- Strong problem-solving, prioritization, organization, adaptability, and attention-to-detail skills, with willingness to work overtime when required.
