Staff Engineer, Fluid and Mechanical Systems (RX) (R6000)

Location: On-site in Seattle, Washington, United States. US Citizens Only; active Secret clearance or higher required.

Salary: $171,456–$257,184 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for regular full-time employees.

What you will do

• Develop aircraft fluid-system layouts for ram-air circuits, liquid cooling loops, ECS/TMS circuits, and hydraulic distribution.
• Perform pressure-drop, flow-balance, pump, reservoir, and thermal-transport calculations.
• Build fluid and thermal models using Flowmaster, AMESim, GFSSP, or equivalent tools.
• Design brackets, mounts, line supports, and installation hardware, including tolerance, clearance, hand, and basic FEA analyses.
• Select components and resolve interfaces with structures, EWIS, electrical power, thermal management, and adjacent mechanical systems.
• Support suppliers, prototype assembly, qualification testing, MIL-STD-810 compliance, and MIL-HDBK-516 airworthiness certification.

Requirements

• US citizenship and an active Secret clearance or higher.
• 7–12 years of experience in fluid systems design, thermal systems analysis, or mechanical systems installation in aerospace or a comparable regulated industry.
• B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Deep knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanical design, and tolerance stack-up methods.
• Experience with fluid-system sizing, 1D fluid or thermal modeling, 3D CAD, routing, layouts, drawing release, and PLM workflows.
• Experience designing installation hardware, sourcing aerospace components, managing suppliers, and building test setups.

Nice to have

• Aircraft ram-air, liquid cooling, hydraulic, fuel, or thermal transport loop design experience.
• ECS or thermal management system integration experience.
• Electro-mechanical or electro-hydrostatic actuation system experience.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-HDBK-516, and airworthiness verification planning.
• Prototype fabrication, mechanical assembly, or rapid R&D experience.
