Salary: $150,000–$226,000 USD annually

What you will do

  • Act as the cognizant materials and processes engineer for launch vehicle fluid systems.
  • Qualify materials and processes for flight and reuse across fluid system components.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain technical specifications and engineering standards.
  • Lead statistically driven experimental design and process improvement campaigns.
  • Collaborate with materials, laboratory, fluid systems, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, fracture control, and leadership teams.
  • Support material selection, design and analysis, qualification, failure analysis, manufacturing troubleshooting, subcontractor reliability, and technical risk management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in materials science, materials engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant materials and processes experience; leveling may vary based on background.
  • Experience with material selection, process development, qualification, damage tolerance, inspections, risk assessments, and failure analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Commitment to accountability, execution, continuous learning, and inclusive technical collaboration.

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace fluid system products and their materials and processes across the full part lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of cryogenic stainless steel, nickel alloys, and structural aluminum alloys.
  • Experience with orbital tube welding, gas tungsten arc welding, tube bending, passivation, precision cleaning, heat treatment, forging, casting, or extrusion.
  • Knowledge of media compatibility, non-destructive evaluation, corrosion, fatigue, and damage tolerance.
  • Experience with statistical experimental design and data analysis.
