Director Underwriting Learning & Enablement (Hybrid)

Location: Hybrid role based in Short Hills, New Jersey. Ability to travel is required.

Salary: USD $163,000–$211,000 per year, with the actual base salary determined by geographic location, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.

What you will do

• Own the enterprise learning architecture and strategy for underwriting across business lines, regions, and career levels.
• Design and deploy learning through classroom, eLearning, video, simulations, virtual instruction, knowledge checks, and AI-generated content.
• Use underwriting performance data, quality results, loss trends, and compliance reporting to identify knowledge gaps and create targeted interventions.
• Measure training effectiveness through knowledge retention, behavioral change, underwriting quality, profitability, and operational outcomes.
• Standardize regional training practices and align with LOB Technical, Governance, IT, Operations, Product, and regional leadership teams.
• Lead trainee and onboarding programs, technology enablement, learning systems, team development, budgets, and vendor relationships.

Requirements

• College degree required; instructional design, education, organizational development, or a related field preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in corporate learning, training, instructional design, or talent development.
• 5+ years of leadership or management experience overseeing learning teams and strategic training programs.
• Experience with P&C insurance underwriting or underwriting operations strongly preferred.
• Experience designing programs across classroom, eLearning, video, AI-enabled, and virtual delivery formats.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel required.

Nice to have

• Experience in insurance or financial services learning and development.
• CPCU, AU, CPLP, or another relevant professional designation.
• Knowledge of P&C underwriting operations.
