What you will do
- Provide technical leadership and direction within a product engineering squad.
- Architect and deliver complex, scalable backend solutions from technical design through production deployment and support.
- Build secure, reliable, well-tested, and maintainable software for the modern messaging platform.
- Guide architectural decisions, API design, data modeling, infrastructure, security, privacy, performance, and observability.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, feedback, and knowledge sharing.
- Improve engineering quality, delivery processes, and collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience delivering and maintaining production software.
- At least 3 years of recent hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, messaging brokers such as SQS and RabbitMQ, and software design patterns.
- Expertise with AWS services including ECS/Fargate, Lambda, EC2, DynamoDB, RDS/Aurora, SQS, SNS, and Kinesis.
- Experience designing microservices and event-driven architectures, automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test suites, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; the role is remote from the Philippines.
Nice to have
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or ChatGPT.
- Strong mentoring skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
