Senior Software Engineer (Java, Spring Boot)

Location: Hybrid role based in Manchester, United Kingdom, with in-office presence twice a week

What you will do

• Build and maintain platform features and services from design through deployment.
• Contribute to early-stage prototypes, infrastructure work, and architectural decisions within the squad.
• Design and develop services using microservices or domain-driven architecture and asynchronous event-driven communication.
• Champion CI/CD, automation, observability, testing strategies, security, and operational excellence.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, interviews, and onboarding.
• Participate in incident management rotas and provide hands-on technical support during production incidents.

Requirements

• Solid hands-on software engineering experience across frontend and backend development.
• Experience with Java, Spring Boot, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, TypeScript, and React.
• Experience designing services within microservices or domain-driven architectures, including asynchronous event-driven systems.
• Practical experience with CI/CD, containerisation, DevOps, security, testing, and observability.
• Experience mentoring engineers, communicating technical concepts clearly, documenting decisions, and working in product-led agile teams.
• Experience with incident management or on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have

• Experience in media, audio streaming, or consumer platforms.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tooling.
