Fire Systems Engineer -Mechanical

Location: Based in Khobar, Eastern, Saudi Arabia, with projects across Saudi Arabia; travel is required as needed.

What you will do

• Design fire suppression systems, including firewater pumps and networks, wet, dry, and pre-action sprinklers, spray, foam, clean-agent, and kitchen hood systems.
• Develop fire alarm drawings, wiring diagrams, device layouts, riser diagrams, cause-and-effect matrices, and specifications.
• Perform voltage-drop, battery, hydraulic, theoretical, and clean-agent flow calculations using specialist software such as AlarmCAD, Elitefire, Pipenet, and Honeywell tools.
• Prepare design basis reports, submittals, technical reports, and system documentation.
• Develop firewater, sprinkler, spray, foam, and pump schematic diagrams and supervise designers producing system layouts.
• Support design, construction, testing, commissioning, regulatory approvals, and project handover.

Requirements

• Accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• 7–12 years of experience designing and laying out mechanical or specialty engineering systems.
• In-depth knowledge of national and international building and fire codes, including NFPA 1, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 30, 70, 72, 101, and 2001.
• Knowledge of Saudi building and fire codes and local standards such as TAC and OISD.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD; Revit experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• Experience with Revit.
• Demonstrated knowledge of design practices and approvals in Saudi Arabia.
