Senior Data Engineer Contractor (Microsoft Fabric)

What you will do

• Build and manage data pipelines, storage solutions, and refresh processes across Microsoft Fabric and AWS.
• Develop layered dbt models with reusable business logic, facts, dimensions, tests, freshness checks, documentation, lineage, and exposures.
• Create reliable datasets and semantic models for Power BI and self-service analytics.
• Define and maintain Kimball dimensional modelling standards, business keys, conformed dimensions, and entities.
• Automate data quality validation, monitoring, alerting, and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain pipeline documentation, runbooks, secure data access, version control, code reviews, environment separation, and controlled releases.

Requirements

• Experience as a Data Engineer or Analytics Engineer delivering reliable BI pipelines and curated datasets.
• Strong practical experience with dbt, SQL, AWS data services, cloud data engineering patterns, and Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse.
• Experience with dbt model layering, tests, sources, freshness, documentation, lineage, exposures, and safe model changes.
• Strong knowledge of Kimball dimensional modelling.
• Experience with data quality, monitoring, operational support, and troubleshooting.
• Good communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
