Senior SQL Database Engineer

Location: Washington, DC; onsite core hours required

What you will do

• Create, modify, and maintain large datasets.
• Maintain data delivery, quality, security, integrity, and availability.
• Perform database tuning and performance optimization for mission-critical systems.
• Design and manage database implementations, schemas, and dimensional data models for data warehouses.
• Mentor and guide a team in transforming complex data into meaningful business intelligence.
• Provide 24x7 database support and identify opportunities for system improvement.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; a master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred.
• 5+ years of database engineering experience.
• Knowledge of ETL, SQL, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with enterprise data management policies, database language theory, database programming, architecture, and design.
• Familiarity with cloud and DevOps principles; AWS is preferred and Azure is secondary.

Nice to have

• Experience with system architecture and design.
• Knowledge of Jira, Microsoft Project, Visio, and State Department environments and standards.
• Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification.
