Head of Product Design

Location: Hybrid role based within a comfortable commuting distance of London, with 3 days per week in the West London office and 2 days working remotely. Right to work in the UK is required.

What you will do

• Lead, coach and develop a team of four experienced Product Designers across Butternut and Marro.
• Establish Design as an equal strategic partner to Product and Engineering.
• Set design vision and principles that guide product decisions, critique and trade-offs.
• Raise UX, visual and interaction design quality across both brands and product touchpoints.
• Evolve the design system and strengthen research methodologies, quality and trust in insights.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data and AI leaders to shape product direction and customer experiences.

Requirements

• Experience coaching experienced Product Designers through feedback, mentorship and high expectations.
• Exceptional product design judgement, UX and interaction design capability, and strong visual quality standards.
• Ability to connect design decisions with customer and commercial outcomes.
• Credibility in cross-functional leadership, facilitation, collaboration and healthy debate.
• Current hands-on craft credibility and the ability to contribute selectively when high-leverage input is needed.
• Must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
