Senior Etch Process Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom. The role is based at the Newport site and may involve occasional domestic and international travel, including to the United States, as well as occasional shift work.

What you will do

• Develop and demonstrate plasma etch processes using etch demonstration equipment.
• Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot process recipes across SPTS product platforms.
• Assess wafer-processing results with analytical equipment, metrology techniques, and software tools.
• Use endpoint detection and perform root cause analysis to improve process control and performance.
• Support hardware testing, long-duration equipment testing, customer installations, and field teams.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for customers, internal stakeholders, patents, publications, and conferences.

Requirements

• Experience with plasma etch processing in a semiconductor environment.
• Experience with semiconductor metrology techniques and practical knowledge of endpoint detection.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
• Relevant PhD, master's, or bachelor's degree with industrial experience, or equivalent qualifications and hands-on semiconductor process engineering experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Availability to work at the Newport, United Kingdom site, travel occasionally, and work shifts when required.

Nice to have

• Scanning electron microscopy experience; training can be provided.
